Beads and String

The following activities can be done with the beads and string given to your child in their Therapy to Go bag.

Targeted skills

  • Gross motor: reaching
  • Visual awareness
  • Fine motor: grasping, dexterity, coordination of both hands
  • Communication: understanding directions

Reminders

  • Do not let your child put the beads in their mouth. This may cause your child to choke.
  • Be patient with your child. Give them enough time to complete each activity.
  • Show your child how to do each activity before they do it themselves.
  • Help your child as needed.

Activity

Put beads on string

  1. Give your child the beads and string.
  2. Have your child try to put the beads on the string without help.
  3. If your child needs help:
    • Let your child put the bead on the string while you hold the string.
    • Use a pipe cleaner instead of string.
