What is Zidovudine / Lamivudine (Combivir®)?

Combivir® is a tablet that contains 2 medicines used to treat infection caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The 2 medicines are called zidovudine (Retrovir®, ZDV, or AZT) and lamivudine (Epivir® or 3TC). Both medicines belong to a group called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). Combivir® can slow down how soon you will see symptoms or slow the damage caused by HIV, but it cannot cure HIV infection. Combivir® tablets contain 300 mg of zidovudine and 150 mg of lamivudine.
