If your child has a medical condition, they may be able to get extra help at school through a 504 plan. A 504 plan is a written plan that helps your child stay on track in the classroom by giving them the support they need.
This video explains what a 504 plan is, how to request one, and what to expect during the meeting with the school. You'll learn how you can speak up as the expert on your child’s needs and what types of classroom and medical supports might be included—like extra time on tests or a plan for pain management at school.
You’ll also get tips on what questions to ask during the meeting, how to talk about absences, and how to update the plan if your child’s needs change.
