Talk about the card

  1. Talk with your child about what you see on each card. This may include:
    • Colors
    • How the card feels
    • What the object in the card is or sounds like. You may say “This is a cow. The cow says ‘moo’.”
  2. Ask your child to say the name of the object on the card (or the sound it makes).
  3. Ask your child the questions that are written on the back of the card. If your child can answer your questions, wait for them to answer.

Identify objects

  1. Place 2–4 cards in front of your child.
  2. Ask your child to find a certain card. For example, you may say “Find the banana.”

Sort the cards

  1. Show your child 2–4 cards.
  2. Find things that are alike in the cards. For example, some cards may have animals. Some may have things with wheels.
  3. Group the cards that are alike together.
