Animal Puzzles

The following activities can be done with the animal puzzles given to your child in their Therapy to Go bag.

Targeted skills 

  • Gross motor: reaching, dynamic standing balance
  • Fine motor: grasping, coordination
  • Visual motor and scanning 
  • Cognition: language, problem solving

Reminders

  • Be patient with your child. Let them take their time to finish each activity. 
  • Show your child how to do the activity first, before you ask them to try it. 
  • Help your child when they need it. 

Activities 

Each puzzle has 6 pieces. 

Completing the puzzle

  1. Put the puzzle pieces on a flat surface.
  2. Ask your child to put the puzzle together to make a picture of an animal. 
  3. Ask your child to make the sound the animal makes.
  4. Ask your child to try to move like the animal — crawl, jump, or walk the way the animal would.

Hide and seek

  1. Hide puzzle pieces around the room.
  2. Ask your child to jump, hop, or walk to find the pieces.
  3. When your child finds a piece, have them put it on a flat surface.
  4. After your child finds all 6 puzzle pieces, ask them to put the pieces together to make a picture of an animal.
