Thandeka Ngcana, MD, MD

Thandeka Ngcana, MD is a pioneering South African paediatrician who has made history as the country's first dedicated paediatric neuro-oncologist. Her career is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and care of children with brain and spinal cord tumours, a highly specialized and critical field within pediatric medicine. She currently practices at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Johannesburg and mentors trainees in paediatric neuro-oncology. Her work is transformative, as she provides advanced care that was previously unavailable locally, relieving families of the burden of seeking treatment abroad. Ngcana is also an ordained deacon of the African Methodist Episcopal church and serves as a pastor in her community. She is pursuing a Master of Divinity.
