Maria Lopez Garcia, MD

Maria Lopez Garcia, MD, is a hospitalist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She earned her medical degree at Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil in Ecuador, where her early work as a pediatrician in underserved communities shaped her commitment to equity in child health. She completed her pediatric residency at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami and went on to train in pediatric hematology-oncology at Columbia University in New York. Her clinical and research interests center on immune dysregulation, hyperinflammation, and improving supportive care for children facing complex illnesses.
