Miguela Caniza is a pediatric infectious disease expert and director of the Global Infectious Diseases Program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She helps protect children with cancer and other serious illnesses from infections. Originally from Paraguay, Caniza earned her medical degree there and later trained in pediatrics and infectious diseases in the United States. She is known worldwide for her work in improving infection care, especially for patients with weak immune systems. She also mentors health care providers and works with international groups to improve infection prevention in hospitals and communities. Her compassion and dedication make her a leader in her field.
