John “Drew” Sturgeon, PhD

John “Drew” Sturgeon, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan School of Medicine. Sturgeon is also a member of the Precision Health Initiative for multidisciplinary research and the Rehabilitation Psychology Consultation Group at the University of Michigan. He completed his PhD in clinical psychology at Arizona State University and a postdoctoral pain psychology fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine. Sturgeon treats people with chronic pain conditions using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other psychology-based pain management methods. He has written many peer-reviewed scientific articles on pain management and resilience in people with chronic pain.
