Blood Cells in Cancer
In cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma, something goes wrong in the normal process of white blood cell formation. Immature white blood cells such as lymphoblasts and myeloblasts don’t develop into healthy white blood cells. Instead, these cells grow out of control. The body does not make enough healthy cells, so these numbers fall.
Blood-Forming Cell
Damaged or destroyed blood-forming cells reduce the body’s ability to make healthy red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
Red Blood Cells
Low numbers of healthy red blood cells cause a condition called anemia and may make you feel tired.
